The life of a young glassblower in training and his relationships over the years as his homeland goes through wars and conflicts. This is the first hand drawn Pakistani animated film. BEFORE you get mad, read my review till the end and think about it. The Glass Worker is a good film, I won’t lie and I have been following it for 4-5 years. But I knew from the beginning since this is Usman Riaz’s first film, the story would have some issues and oh boy did it have a lot of them. The ending was confusing to say the least as it was missing a lot of plot elements from the film and the film picked up on them pretty quickly. It also didn’t feel “original” since Usman Riaz was inspired by Ghibli which actually made the film feel “too” inspired by Ghibli. I know it’s his first film but if it was original, it would have been better and also made it feel more natural and relaxing rather than picking up on it quickly. IF you really want to see what a “CAPODROMO” looks like (as people here scream this movie is, even though it isn’t) go watch HAYOA MIYAZAKI’s first film “NausicaƤ The Valley of Wind”. Or “castle in the sky” then you will truly understand the art of animation and the beauty of a true masterpiece story. The reviews here are totally wrong saying it’s the “best movie ever”, I have seen many, I mean MANY animated films and mostly Japanese ones, because I like their natural 2D illustrations. I am quite picky with my animated films and this one was an easy 7/10. The main reason being that while the animation was nice and cute, the story was lacking and felt a bit amateurish + not to forget the Urdu dubbing of the film, which didn’t convey any natural feeling. I highly recommend watching the movie in ENGLISH rather than URDU, because the original script of the movie is in English, that’s why the Urdu one looked like a Google translation lmao.
